Poll between Hillary and Obama only - is there one?

There's been a lot of talk about Hillary being ahead of Obama by 30pts in the national polls and in some States.

Has anybody heard about a poll that's been taken nationally that only has Hillary and Obama on it?  If so, who took it and where is it?  Who won?

As far as I know, most polls ask you to vote for one out of ALL of the candidates.  I want one with just the two of them.

Obama

There are after all more candidates running.

Frequently the polls ask the Clinton vs Obama question -- Clinton prevails 2-1. You'd have to go to the collection of national polls at pollster.com and check them individually to find the ones that asked.

Re: (none / 0)

Generally, if a poll asks to choose between just Clinton and Obama, it is usually about 60% to 30% (or thereabouts - I had seen Clinton as high as 63%) in favor of Clinton.

LOL!! Sorry, there (none / 0)

Change begins in Iowa.

This would be a difficult choice for me.  I honestly can't answer.  Don't tell my wife.

Re: Poll between Hillary and Obama (2.00 / 1)

Found one....

ABC News/Washington Post Poll
Sept. 27-30, 2007

"If Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama were the only choices in the Democratic primary, how would you vote?"

Hillary 55%
Obama 39%
Unsure 5%

Difference of only 16%

If the 2008 Democratic presidential primary or caucus in your state were being held today, and the candidates were [see below], for whom would you vote?"

Hillary 53%
Obama 20%
Edwards 13%
Richardaon 3%
Biden 2%

Difference of 33% between Hillary and Obama with everybody else in the poll.

When put against each other Hillary is only 16 pts ahead.  Hillary also has the advantage of having a NAME that is recognized all over - Obama does not.  Once people KNOW his name (not political junkies like ourselves) - he just might be ahead of her.

Re: Poll between Hillary and Obama (none / 0)

that does reveal one thing - that if people leave other candidates they are much more likely to go to Obama than Hillary

Re: Poll between Hillary and Obama (none / 0)

Name recognition at this point is no longer a factor.

And the "if" thing is "iffy."   IF my aunt were my uncle, and stuff like that, you know.

Other polls have put the gap at 2 to 1, typically.

WOW, Hillary won yet another poll!!!!!!!!!! (none / 0)

Did you ever learn how to write? You're supposed to back up your statements. Did you write this comment yourself without cutting and pasting anything? You're supposed to use quotation marks if you are quoting something. I've caught quite a few "mistakes" when I have had to waste my own time verifying the scores of polls that you people throw up on our recommended list on a daily basis.

Ssdly, your handle isn't the only one that does this. You people have no problem cutting and pasting comments and diaries. Provide links.

This has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not I believe your poll. You are making our site a laughing stock, when it used to be known for thoughtful analysis, and the only thing that you have to do to remedy this piss poor comment is to cut and paste a damn link.

Discussion and comments on unsupported data is a joke. This isn't middle school. If you really want to be a part of this community, is it too much to ask?

Re: WOW, Hillary won yet another poll!!!!!!!!!! (none / 0)

i agree that this site rarely contains any real content or healthy exchange of information anymore.

There are just too many people posting here who are getting paid to do so by campaigns.  You have to admit it would be a pretty easy job.

Re: WOW, Hillary won yet another poll!!!!!!!!!! (none / 0)

No offense, Miss Cee, but I can honestly not recall a single instance in which you "thoughtfully discuss" an issue, and I have been here for quite some time now.    All I see are slams of posters (the poster you are after here is an Obama supporter, btw.) with the often-used remark that the person is making a "piss-poor comment."     What, because the data he listed did not come with a link (probably an oversight) it is a "piss-poor comment"?

Why don't you start writing commentary that everybody here can discuss, participate in an exchange of ideas.  Others can, even across ideological (candidate support) gulfs.   Come on, you can do it, Miss Cee.

Don't read them.

My nick is misscee. I don't always call a comment that I don't like, piss poor. Sometimes, they're what I call ... flame bait.

One other thing, you have been here less than a year yet, if one goes by your first diary.

If he cannot beat Hillary in the west and midwest how does he beat the republicans.
